Envelope adhesive
Our envelopes are available with two types of adhesive - self seal or gummed. The price is the same for either. Self seal have a much shorter shelf life (around 12-18 months) whereas gummed last for around 5 years or so. You will be offered the choice on the order form.

Important - NEW barcode rules from Royal Mail - Centreprint make it easy!
In September 2013, Royal Mail announced that as from 7th November 2014 all Business Reply envelopes and Freepost envelopes must carry a special personalised barcode. After this date, they may reject the envelopes or impose a surcharge. To ensure that your envelopes are future proof, Centreprint will add this barcode to your envelope layout for you and will then submit the mandatory proof to Royal Mail on your behalf.

IMPORTANT as the 7th November 2014 deadline for barcode inclusion draws nearer, Royal Mail are getting increasingly slower in passing the barcoded proofs that we submit on your behalf, so please ORDER NOW to avoid delays. Please telephone 01902 402693 office hours for more information.

Low minimum order and no plate charges
Our minimum order is only 1000 with FREE artwork, layout, proofing and origination and FREE mainland delivery. There are no plate or layout charges and no other extras to pay.

Business Reply Envelope Licence
To be able to have a first or second class business reply licence licence, you will need to apply to Royal Mail for a licence. There is no need to supply any artwork or layout to us as we follow Royal Mail strict guidelines on artwork preparation for printed envelopes. Business Reply Envelope Licence

What's the difference between the Royal Mail Business Reply Standard and Business Reply Plus licences?
The only difference between the Royal Mail Business Reply PLUS licence and the Royal Mail Business Reply STANDARD licence is that with the "plus" licence, Royal Mail charge you (currently) 6p LESS in postage. This is your 'reward' for using standard size machine sortable envelopes, such as our standard size DL or C5. The reason is that the 'Plus' service envelopes do not need to be sorted by hand, which saves Royal Mail money, which they pass on to you.

WARNING Business Reply or Freepost envelopes larger than C5 size (162mm x 229mm) CANNOT be used on the PLUS licence as these have to be hand sorted. If you need to use C4 envelopes, make sure that you apply for the STANDARD licence. If not, always apply for the PLUS licence as this will save you money.

Prices
Once you have a licence, you can use either First class or Second class envelopes. The printing price is the same as you only pay for the postage as the envelopes are used. See Plus prices or Standard prices

Sizes
We print the most popular sizes of C6, DL, C5 and C4 business reply envelopes (see prices below).
C6 is 114mm x 162mm and takes A5 folded twice or A4 cross-folded.
DL is 110mm x 220mm and takes A4 folded into three. It is the standard business envelope size.
C5 is 162mm x 229mm and takes A5 flat or A4 folded once.
C4 is 324mm x 229mm and takes A4 flat. C4 envelopes are OK for Business Reply Standard use but are not allowed by Royal Mail for Business Reply Plus, which is only for standard machineable sizes such as DL and C5.

Centreprint Print & Mail are accredited Royal Mail suppliers and have all Royal Mail standard Business Reply, Business Reply Plus, Freepost and Freepost Plus specifications and barcodes available. We print millions of Royal Mail Response envelopes every year. Royal mail rules are very strict and the penalties for getting it wrong are expensive, so leave it to us.

Delivery
Envelopes are delivered by carrier and require a signature upon delivery. See further details about delivery.

Despatch
Our workload varies, but we usually are able to despatch within 5 - 7 WORKING days from proof acceptance - sometimes faster. We do not despatch or deliver at weekends or on Bank or public holidays.
